Accounts Payable Specialist (Contract – Construction Subcontractor)

Location: Baltimore, MD | Long-Term Opportunity

Are you an Accounts Payable professional with construction industry experience, ready to support high-impact building projects across the Baltimore region?

Our client, a well-respected subcontractor in the commercial construction sector, is seeking a detail-driven Accounts Payable Specialist for a long-term contract role. This company plays a key role in major projects across healthcare, institutional, and mixed-use developments—and they need someone dependable and organized to help keep their financial operations running smoothly.

As recruiters specialized in construction & finance placements, we’re looking for someone with both the technical AP skills and the communication savvy to work inside a fast-paced, boots-on-the-ground contractor environment.

The Role: What You'll Be Doing

• Review and enter a high volume of supplier & vendor invoices for accuracy and job cost coding
• Facilitate approval workflows between project managers, supervisors, and accounting
• Reconcile vendor statements and prepare weekly check/payment runs
• Communicate with vendors and internal teams to resolve billing issues and adjust discrepancies
• Support the monthly AP close process and assist with audit documentation when needed

What Our Client Is Looking For

• 2+ years of recent Accounts Payable experience, with a focus in subcontracting, construction, or trades
• Familiarity with AP and job cost accounting tools (experience with Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, Vista/Viewpoint, or QuickBooks Contractor Edition is highly valued)
• Solid understanding of lien waivers, COIs, purchase orders, and change orders (a big plus)
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to follow up in a deadline-driven environment
• Professional communication skills – you'll collaborate with operations and field teams daily
