Thomas Automotive Full Time Body Shop Manager Job Description Position Information: The full time Body Shop Manager is responsible for the operation of an efficient and profitable body shop department. S/he will operate the department at maximum production, controlling costs, building a loyal clientele, maintaining good employee relationships, setting and obtaining sales and profit objectives, and maintaining service records. The Body Shop Manager directs the activities of body shop employees in performing body repairs, time schedules, quality control, and productivity levels.

- Evaluate number of estimates written versus awarded
- Ensure Safety of employees and customers
Duties and Responsibilities: - Greet every customer, every day
- Maintain high ethical standards when dealing with customers, co-workers and vendors
- Put safety first. Adhere to all Safety Policies, Procedures and Personal Protective Equipment standards
- Direct body shop employees in performing body repairs, including meeting time schedules and productivity levels and maintaining quality standards
- Develop business through various sources and sales techniques to assure an adequate sales volume
- Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them
- Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for they body shop
- Attend managers' meetings as requested
- Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of body shop staff
- Direct and schedule the activities of all body shop employees
- Provide technical assistance as needed
- Conduct meetings with body shop employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest
- Monitor Body Shop Technicians' payroll records
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with several insurance adjusters
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business
- Supervise all activities of and communication with the wrecker service
- Provide fair estimates on costs and time required for body work
- Break down estimates into labor and parts before the job is started so that Repair Technicians are aware of time allowances
- Quality-check completed jobs
- Handle all customer complaints
- Keep abreast of new equipment and tools available and recommend purchases
- Ensure that the work areas and customer waiting area are kept clean
- Maintain accurate records
- Prepare final billing for completed repair orders
- Collect accounts receivable for body repair work
- Follow up on parts department orders to ensure parts availability
- Maintain a safe and clean workspace, as well as ensuring the entire facility is orderly, clean and free of hazards
Requirements
Qualifications: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Two years of experience in an auto body repair facility. Working knowledge of body repair methods. One year of supervisory experience preferred. Excellent communication and managerial skills.
Working Conditions: The Body Shop Manager will work at a desk which is enclosed in the body shop garage. They will be exposed to noise, vibration, paint, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
