Job Opportunity: Chemical Operators

Chemical Operators needed for work in Charleston area. Must have at least one year experience as Chemical Operator in a chemical plant or chemical manufacturing environment. Also, must have a high school diploma or equivalent with solid math skills. Salary range $26.78 - $42.31 based on experience.

Essential Functions:

• Communicate respectfully and appropriately with all employees.
• Use experience and available resources to troubleshoot equipment and processes
• Identify specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of any proposed work
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures

General Duties & Responsibilities:

• Pumping of chemicals from containers, tanks, dikes, and totes
• Ability to wear PPE including a full-face respirator
• Ability to follow and execute chemical processes as prescribed by Operating Procedures
• Cleaning out equipment before and after production runs
• Keeping protective equipment clean and in good condition
• Reading gauges, scales, etc., and recording information as required by operating instructions
• Entering confined spaces (tanks) for inspection and cleaning
• Operates the control system to safely run chemical processes
• Taking samples & coordinating results with the laboratory
• Hooking and unhooking hoses for raw material and product transfers
• Operating a forklift
• Loading material by hand into reactors as required
• General plant cleanup as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Competencies:

• Recommended experience in a chemical or manufacturing industry
• Proficient in English, must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Excellent general math skills
• Ability to troubleshoot, schedule and plan maintenance
• Ability to develop and deliver clear and concise presentations along with detailed reports
• Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
• Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
• Must have finger dexterity for typing and keyboard use
• Overtime may be required
• Consistent and regular attendance required
