Job Description

Minneapolis Public Schools is seeking creative and motivated individuals to join our Minneapolis Kids before and after elementary school program! Child Care Assistants provide a fun, safe, educational, and recreational experience for our students. No previous child care experience is required for this role - this position would be ideal for someone looking to start a career in child care.  

Job responsibilities:

• Assist program coordinators in facilitating enrichment choice-based programs and activities with students  
• Assist with attendance, work assignments, administrative duties, classroom preparation and cleanup, and behavior management 
• Communicate with parents and guardians to answer questions, communicate updates, and explain program rules 
• Maintain inventory of meals and snacks, classroom supplies, and recreational materials
• Promote positive behavior and respect from all students and escalate concerns or behavioral issues when necessary 

Pay & Schedule:

• Competitive pay starting at $19.88/hour with the opportunity for a higher rate depending on experience 
• Full-time (30 hours per week) shifts available with variable hours between 6:30 am and 6:00 pm
• Monday through Friday only, no weekends

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Experience working with children preferred but not required
• Must enjoy working with children and be comfortable working with children with special needs
