General Summary The Hematology Clinical Research Group at the Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant. The group focuses on disorders of hemostasis and thrombosis, congenital and acquired anemias including sickle cell disease and thalassemia, immune cytopenias, and other non-malignant pediatric hematologic disorders. Research studies include observational studies, registries, biobanking, and interventional clinical trials of novel treatments. The Dana-Farber/Boston Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center has exceptional research and clinical programs in non-malignant hematology, including a busy inpatient consult service and approximately 5,000 ambulatory visits per year, with about 1,500 new patients annually. Key Responsibilities Assist Principal Investigators in planning and implementing clinical research studies, including preparing protocol applications for IRB, sponsor, or regulatory submission. Communicate with IRB, study sponsors, clinical research organizations, study participants, and referring physicians under the direction of the PI. Complete record abstraction of source documents, conduct study measurements, and complete Case Report Forms following best practices. Perform quality control checks on CRFs before data entry, resolve data queries, and complete data entry as needed. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations related to human subjects protections. Maintain regulatory binders, case report forms, source documents, and other study documents. Monitor and report adverse events, and update protocols and amendments accordingly. Assist investigators with data and document preparation for publications, including literature searches and article retrieval. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 3 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 1 year with a Master’s degree. The team is also open to hiring a Clinical Research Assistant II with a Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience. Ability to commit to a 2-year term. Strong analytical skills for interpreting moderately to highly complex data and problems. Excellent communication skills for providing critical information, resolving conflicts, and mediating solutions. Advanced writing skills.
