Job Description

LMK Recruiting is hiring a Commercial Appliance Repair Technician. They are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial kitchen appliances, including ovens, refrigerators, dishwashers, and more. This role requires technical expertise in troubleshooting and repairing both electrical and mechanical components. The technician will perform routine preventive maintenance, replace defective parts, and install new equipment, ensuring all appliances operate efficiently and meet safety standards. Excellent customer service skills are essential, as the technician will interact directly with clients, providing clear communication and ensuring satisfaction with the services provided. The position requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can work independently, manage time effectively, and stay updated on the latest technologies in commercial appliance repair.

Compensation:

  • Pay Rate: $20-27/ HR
  • Potential Bonus: Dependent on market performance.

Schedule:

  • Typical hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (may vary by market).
  • On-call Rotation: Every 3-4 weeks.
  • Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be necessary, depending on the market.

Location:

  • Candidates considered within 40 miles of the specified market.

Experience and Certification Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of technical experience in refrigeration, appliance repair, kitchen equipment, commercial HVAC, or relevant military service.
  • Preferred Certifications: EPA Universal (or EPA I & II) and/or CFESA certification.

Technician Duties:

  1. Inspect, Repair, Modify, and Install HVAC Equipment:

    • Work on refrigeration and air-conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, valves (automatic and hand), expansion valves, and capillary tubes.
  2. Preventive Maintenance:

    • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of refrigeration units, heating and ventilating units, boilers, gas and electric air-conditioning equipment, and evaporative coolers. Adjust and repair as needed.
  3. Repair and Replace Defective Parts:

    • Handle thermostats, automatic switches, fan controls, log switches, damper motors, louvers, relays, filters, controls, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, high-limit controls, pressure controls, safety valves, and automatic gas valves.
  4. Operate Tools and Equipment:

    • Use various hand and power tools, welder torch, vacuum pump, test equipment, and motor vehicles; ensure tools and equipment are in safe working condition.
  5. Compressor Maintenance:

    • Repair and rebuild semi-hermetic reciprocating compressors and centrifugal refrigeration machine compressors.
  6. Electrical Maintenance:

    • Perform skilled electrical work for the repair, installation, and alteration of HVAC equipment. Connect motors to control panels.
  7. Lubrication and Packing:

    • Lubricate and pack motors, pumps, fans, and other HVAC-related equipment.
  8. System Installation and Calibration:

    • Install and calibrate HVAC systems, install copper tubing, repair pipes and tubing, test joints, and insulate pipes. Flush boilers, descale tubing, and rebuild safety valves and water pumps.
  9. Equipment Installation and Repair:

    • Install, rebuild, replace, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, fuses, filters, bearings, valves, controls, gaskets, and related equipment.
  10. Record-Keeping:

    • Maintain detailed records of time, labor, and materials used. Keep a log of tasks performed and generate required reports.

This role requires a highly skilled technician capable of independently handling a variety of HVAC and refrigeration tasks, with a strong emphasis on safety, precision, and customer service.
