Skillforce is seeking several skilled Crane Operators for a direct hire opportunity in Richmond, VA.!

Job Summary:
Responsible for assembling rigging to lift and move equipment or materials in a manufacturing plant, shipyard, or construction site. Ensures safe and efficient rigging operations while adhering to safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Compliance:

   • Adhere to OSHA, DOT, and site-specific safety rules and regulations.
   • Maintain knowledge of transportation and fleet safety standards.

2. Planning and Communication:

   • Organize and prioritize tasks based on job requirements.
   • Maintain clear communication with supervisors via telephone or radio.

3. Equipment Inspection and Operation:

   • Inspect cranes, lifts, welding machines, and other equipment for safety and functionality.
   • Assemble/disassemble crane booms and inspect rigging materials before and after use.
   • Signal cranes and manage rigging equipment to move loads safely.

4. Load Management:

   • Calculate load weights and use various rigging tools, such as skates, airbags, and chain falls.
   • Set loads in place and manage rigging removal.

5. Routine Maintenance:

   • Perform or coordinate routine maintenance and repairs on equipment.
   • Lubricate and clean equipment as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (1-2 years related experience or training).
• Certified Rigger's card or ability to obtain one.
• Strong mathematical and mechanical skills.
• Ability to inspect, operate, and maintain equipment safely.

Work Environment:

• Requires adherence to safety procedures and attention to detail.
• May involve emergency roadside repairs and physical labor.

This role does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Pay: $30/hr-$40/hr DOE
