POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Fundraising and Events (Non-Profit) will be a visionary leader, overseeing the strategic planning and execution of high-impact, fundraising-focused events designed to engage and inspire donors and prospects. This pivotal role involves close collaboration with senior leaders across the Development department and the broader organization, to cultivate a dynamic events program that not only builds on past successes but also charts an exciting course for the future. We are seeking a strategic thinker, a proven revenue driver, a creative problem solver, and a collaborative team player. The ideal candidate will be an astute manager, guiding a dedicated team of event specialists and shaping the contributions of departmental collaborators. Initiative, drive, creativity, positivity, flexibility, and exceptional communication and organizational skills are absolutely essential for success in this thrilling position.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Create a strategic plan for Development events in collaboration with Major Gifts and Corporate Partnership teams to achieve ambitious monetary and non-monetary goals. This includes expanding bases of support, driving significant sponsorship and solicitations from individuals and corporations, engaging key boards and lead volunteers, and executing impactful ancillary fundraising activities.
  • Establish and maintain robust quantitative and qualitative event metrics to provide regular, insightful status updates to leadership, evaluate outcomes, inform future events, maximize efficiency and return on investment, and support the development of financial projections and organizational planning. Infuse new ideas and processes to elevate current events and propose innovative programming to meet the organization’s evolving goals.
  • Oversee a select portfolio of signature event donors, actively soliciting, stewarding, and cultivating these vital relationships throughout the donor cycle.
  • Play a leadership role in managing event committees and co-chairs, partnering seamlessly with Corporate and Major Gift team colleagues on goals for engagement, identification, and management.
  • Establish sophisticated systems for evaluating post-event success and soliciting valuable feedback from key stakeholders.
  • Develop a compelling leader event strategy to maximize engagement with donors and stakeholders; inform and engage leadership through timely and accurate briefings.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports, and expertly oversee consultants and contractors in the meticulous planning and flawless execution of signature fundraising events.
  • Oversee the team in providing unparalleled event planning and logistical support for cultivation events, ensuring every detail is perfect.
  • Deliver an exceptional guest experience from seamless registration through program execution, partnering with internal teams on impactful messaging goals, innovative use of technology, and more.
  • Provide strategic thinking and execution on leveraging events to support relationship building and revenue growth across the organization's expanding network, including its two newly added hospitals: Brighton and South.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree and at least 10 years of non-profit event management experience, eight years of which must include managing high-performing team members and driving significant event revenue; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates exceptional capability.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Non-profit fundraising experience in complex, high-impact organizations such as higher education or health care.
