This pivotal role involves collaborating closely with the asset management, operations, and investment teams, ensuring regulatory due diligence for both development and operating assets, and providing essential regulatory oversight throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Support and lead efforts for FERC licensing and relicensing. Ensure the company's hydropower and renewable projects adhere to all FERC regulatory requirements. Oversee the development and implementation of compliance procedures, ensuring the organization operates within legal frameworks.
  • Due Diligence: Collaborate with asset management, operations, and investment teams on regulatory due diligence processes for the acquisition of development and operating assets. Conduct thorough reviews to identify regulatory risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Regulatory Oversight: Provide ongoing regulatory oversight for all projects, acting as a subject matter expert and advisor to internal teams. Address regulatory challenges promptly and proactively, keeping projects on track.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and stakeholders to stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices. Establish and maintain positive relationships to facilitate smooth project approvals and compliance.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of regulatory compliance activities and prepare comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure all regulatory submissions and documentation are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Compliance Rate: Ensure 100% compliance with FERC regulations for all projects.
  • Efficiency: Reduce regulatory approval timelines through streamlined processes and effective communication with regulatory agencies.
  • Risk Mitigation: Successfully identify and mitigate regulatory risks, resulting in a reduction of project-related compliance issues.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Maintain satisfaction among regulatory agencies and other external stakeholders.
  • Documentation Accuracy: Achieve a 98% accuracy rate in regulatory documentation and submissions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in regulatory compliance associated with state agencies and the FERC regulations associated with hydropower operations. Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role is essential.
  • Skills: In-depth knowledge of FERC regulations and compliance requirements. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams. Project management expertise is a plus.
