Employment Litigation Associate Attorney (3rd–5th Year)
Los Angeles or San Francisco
Direct Counsel is seeking a mid-level Employment Litigation Associate to join a prestigious Am Law firm known for its sophisticated Employment Law practice and high-profile clientele.
The OpportunityThis role offers the chance to step into a fast-paced, nationally ranked Employment group handling cutting-edge disputes for Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, startups, and major employers across a variety of industries. You will receive hands-on experience managing complex litigation, high levels of client interaction, and mentorship from leading partners in the field.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategically manage all stages of employment litigation in state and federal court (from initial pleadings through trial preparation)
Draft and argue motions, including motions to dismiss and summary judgment
Conduct fact investigation, document review, depositions, and witness preparation
Provide day-to-day counseling to employers on employment law compliance and litigation avoidance strategies
Work on matters involving:
Trade secret misappropriation and employee mobility disputes
Non-compete and restrictive covenant enforcement
Pay equity claims
Wage & hour (single-plaintiff and class action) matters
Discrimination, harassment, and retaliation lawsuits
3–5 years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for employment litigation
Background must include significant law & motion work and/or trial prep responsibilities
Excellent academic credentials and prior experience with a reputable law firm
California Bar admission is required
Strong communication, brief writing, and client relationship skills
Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player
$260,000 – $365,000 , depending on experience and qualifications (plus bonus eligibility)
