Our driven and passionate team needs to expand, as we continue to experience sustainable growth across multiple markets.What?The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for the development and execution of programs in safety, environmental compliance, and security across multiple facilities. This role combines elements of employee health and safety management, environmental sustainability, and the protection of people, company assets, and operational success. This position ensures that the workplace adheres to industry standards, legal requirements, and best practices across these three areas.Main aspects of the role include:Cultivate a proactive Zero-Loss safety culture throughout the company; creating an environment where employees at all levels are engaged in working safely and sharing their ideasRecommend, develop and implement EHS programs, policies, procedures and best practice techniques with the goal of preventing injury, illness or accident. Programs include lock-out/tag-out, hearing conservation, supplemental investigations, employee new hire orientations and trainingIdentify unsafe acts and conditions through regular assessments and observation, feedback and incident review and promptly initiates Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective action measuresConducts new chemical, biosafety and equipment evaluations; review and identify requirements for engineering projects, new lines/equipment and develops standard for safe requirement design.Partner with Training, Manufacturing and other leaders to create and implement effective training programs; recommend outside training resources and coordinate participation, utilize Alchemy (LMS)Ensure facility maintains ongoing compliance with all OSHA/EPA requirements, safety standards, waste and wastewater management practices; serve as the interface with local, state and federal agencies. Includes ensuring proper permitting is in place, material safety data sheets are maintained and readily available, maintenance of records of discharge or employee exposure to hazardous wasteProactively manage near misses and injuries, working closely with insurance carrier and medical facility (such as Occupational Medicine) to reduce days out of work, coordinate light duty job offers, and mitigate overall cost of claimsChairs the Safety Committee, providing information and direction, coordinating meetings and participation, and managing required or requested reporting activities The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical training in safety, regulatory, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of Environmental Health and Safety experience, including management within a food manufacturing environment, is required. Candidates must have successfully led multiple plant locations to achieve world-class TRR/TIR outcomes.Additionally, strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA compliance specific to Oregon. Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate, train, and influence teams, are essential. Lastly, the ability and flexibility of working hours to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment is required.Curious?
