Your role and responsibilities

The successful candidate will operate as the Field Application Engineer (FAE) for the Electrification business of ABB. In this role you will be the technical support at consulting engineer, end user, EPC and design build customers, ensuring ABB products and solutions achieve a preferred/ acceptable manufacturer status in project specifications. You will work closely with the local sales team and must have proficiency applying MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers and arc flash mitigation technologies in markets such as healthcare, data center, industrial, utility and commercial construction. You will be mainly accountable for: •Aligning the promotional strategy and activities plan with the sales strategy and sales activities plan. •Ensuring that the Promotions team supports the Sales organization by providing on-time and quality technical support and technical training to the target audience resulting in high customer satisfaction. •Creating business opportunities by providing support and fostering collaborations with key decision-makers, both within buying and non-buying segments. •Providing support to customers, particularly consultants, engineering firms, and architect offices, in project development and technical problem- solving. •Collaborate with consultant, end user, utility and EPC/DBC engineers to define electrical project needs, supply design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting & provide education on ABB solutions to gain acceptance of the same into project specifications. •Review and assess project specifications and end-user customer requirements to deliver electrical solutions including one-line electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, lay-out & equipment drawings, equipment specifications and project budget pricing for Low and medium voltage applications. •Develop accurate estimates of the electrical project budget plan for designers, and incorporating best practices. •Provide local support in the following products and applications: MV/ LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, motor control, power monitoring, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear (PSG), generator circuit breakers and more. •Have a working knowledge of short circuit, coordination and arc flash mitigation concepts and the ability to illustrate their benefit via tools such as SKM or Easy Power. •Create and edit presentations for Lunch & Learns and regularly use SFDC. •Educate customer and confidently present complex technical concepts to engineers, contractors and users. •Share customer feedback on new product opportunities, product gaps, and market trends with commercial and product management leadership. Act as a Product Champion in your area. •Be willing to travel ~25% of the time and visit customers in local area regularly.

Qualifications for the role

B.S. degree in engineering or like discipline; preferably electrical with a minimum of three years of experience in the electrical distribution industry. Previous field, plant or design engineering in electrical power systems at major oil and gas companies, electric utilities or industrial facilities preferred. Fluent in English; speaking and writing. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, PPT, Excel, Visio. Knowledge of industry codes and standards; ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, UL preferred. Capability to establish and nurture partnership relationships with the regional engineering consulting community is required.
