The Role: The Grant Writer is a key member of the Grants team, working collaboratively across the organization while also managing a personal portfolio of intuitional funders (Foundation, Corporate, Government). The Grants team works together to raise over $12M annually, balancing renewals with continuous prospecting and pipeline growth. This role is ideal for a grants professional who thrives in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.
Scope: Grant Writing
- Writing: Write LOIs, applications, and reports (in addition to other materials as requested by funders) to foundations, corporations, and public funders for general support and program support requests;
- Collaboration: Manage proposal development, including assessing funding opportunities, data collection, writing, and budget development in collaboration with multiple other JVS teams (Program, Strategy, Finance, Development, Evaluation and Impact, Business Development, Executive Team, HR);
- Project Management: Manage timelines for a portfolio of foundations, corporations, and public funders;
- Document Management: Manage attachments, document submission to funders, and internal document tracking (using SharePoint and Salesforce)
Research/Prospecting
- Research: Research and organize external reports, studies, and media coverage relevant to JVS's programs for use in grant reports and applications;
- Prospecting: Proactively maintain prospect research in alignment with JVS strategic and programmatic priorities.
Other
- Support JVS's strategy to diversify our grant-making portfolio across government, foundations, corporations, and other funding sources;
- Attend departmental meetings and act as an ambassador of the Grants Team to other JVS teams and departments.
Minimum Qualifications: - Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines and objectives;
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; especially strong persuasive writing skills;
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative;
- Work collaboratively as part of a team and across the organization to manage projects in a high functioning, fast-paced environment;
- Basic research, analytical, data management skills;
- Computer proficiency (MS Office Suite, Salesforce, Slack, and/or other related platforms)
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse population of colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, with strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications - At least 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Inquisitive knowledge-seeker open to navigating new systems and processes; with suggestions for improvements;
- Prior experience in managing time-sensitive deliverables;
- Experience with public funding

What We Offer - Annual Salary: $80,000-$90,000
