Job Summary:

The Senior Healthcare Data Analyst/Developer will be responsible for managing healthcare data to extract, analyze, and interpret valuable insights that will be used to make informed business decisions and improve patient care. To be successful in this role, you must have expertise in both SQL (Structured Query Language) and healthcare domain knowledge.

This position provides a high level of support to executive leadership, clinical and performance operations, and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the business subject matter experts and managers to ensure solutions are meeting the needs of business requirements.
  • Review functional requirements and business cases, define scope, and gather specifications for development.
  • Design and implement secure, efficient, and accurate data models.
  • Gather healthcare data from various sources, such as electronic health records (EHRs), billing systems, claims databases, and other healthcare-related datasets.
  • Clean and prepare the collected data for analysis by identifying and addressing data quality issues, missing values, duplicates, and inconsistencies. Transform raw data into a structured format suitable for analysis.
  • Create and manage relational and/or multi-dimensional databases to store and organize healthcare data efficiently. This includes designing database schemas, tables, and optimizing data storage for performance.
  • Write complex SQL queries to extract relevant information from databases. This might involve joining multiple tables, filtering data, aggregating results, and creating calculated fields.
  • Collects, organizes, and interprets statistical data from the database to provide reports and answers to questions from upper management.
  • Develop reports using database reporting tools to complete day-to-day tasks and production support.
  • Perform data analysis and data mappings across various systems. Implement and support SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for the SAM application.
  • Participate in project meetings as a key contributor with stakeholders from the operations, clinical, and analytics team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support business needs.

Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics or applicable area of expertise
  • Master's Degree is preferred
  • Highly proficient with database analysis and design
  • Highly proficient with SQL and ETL
  • Advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis, presentation preparation, and reporting
  • 5+ years of experience in business database analytics and development
  • 5+ years technical expertise in SQL (MySQL/MSSQL)
  • 5+ years' experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI
  • 5+ years of experience compiling and reporting on managed care data
  • 5+ years' experience of clinical data management experience, preferably using the eClinicalWorks (eCW) EMR system
  • Project Management Certification is a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite is required
  • Proven ability to develop and execute programs and processes
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely fashion that are sound, accurate, and supported by the reasoning and inclusion of the appropriate people
  • Must be able to prioritize and accomplish objectives at an acceptable level
  • Must have effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish working relationships, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and apply basic staff etiquette in dealing with others
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
