Job Description

As In-house Legal Counsel you will provide creative and proactive legal guidance as part of a dynamic, highly engaged legal team that loves working at Trove Brands. The right person for this role must have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to contribute to a constantly evolving, growing business. Your specific responsibilities as a part of our team will be based on the business’s needs as well as your expertise. Title will be determined based on level of experience. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate and build relationships with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
  • Assesses, manage, and anticipate organizational risk and support the company’s business with prompt, sound legal advice.
  • Contribute to process improvement.
  • Stay on top of changing laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement practices and standards that support innovation and growth while maintaining appropriate commercial risk.
  • Communicate potential issues clearly and concisely to stakeholders, to resolve in a timely manner.
  • Anything else that arises to support a fast-pace, innovative company.
Qualifications

We’re looking for employees who can contribute their personal expertise in a collaborative work environment. For this role, we’re looking for someone with the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school.
  • Member of the Utah State Bar in good standing or eligible for admission as House Counsel in Utah.
  • 3-7 years of relevant post-law school legal experience, with a strong preference for experience in an in-house legal department.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance:
    • Product safety, product liability, and regulatory compliance.
    • Commercial contracts related to sales, marketing, supply chain, as well as other company agreements.
    • Domestic and international privacy laws and practices.
    • Coordinating with outside counsel regarding the management of international trademark portfolios, including trademark preparation, prosecution, and enforcement.
    • IP enforcement as well as coordinating with outside counsel regarding patent prosecution and litigation.
    • Corporate litigation.
    • International expansion and global corporate governance.
  • Excellent negotiation, written and verbal communication, and research skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Deadline driven, capable of managing multiple critical projects; excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Quick thinking with superior analytical ability and strong attention to detail.
  • Robust computer skills.
  • Be a positive, can-do team player; remain positive, professional, calm and focused; create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders.
  • Strong record of sound business judgment while representing clients under tight timeframes.
  • Experience providing legal services to a consumer products company preferred.
