JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:              GRANT MANAGER
DEPARTMENT: OFFICE OF THE CHIEF JUDGE
GRADE: 21
SALARY: $110, 420
LOCATION: 69 WEST WASHINGTON ST., CHICAGO, ILLINOIS

Job Summary and Duties: The Grant Manager reports to the Chief Financial Officer and functions as the compliance and financial reporting liaison between the Court, Cook County, and associated stakeholders on matters pertaining to grant funding for Court programs. The Grant Manager performs the following duties:
  • Researches and identifies available and suitable sources of grant funding, including preparing applications for such funding;
  • Coordinates grant application activities and facilitates cooperation between the finance department and the department seeking funding;
  • Prepares and compiles accounting, financial and compliance reports, memorandums, statistics, proposals, and projects;
  • Obtains records;
  • Assists in reviewing invoices from providers for accuracy;
  • Works with various internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis to navigate issues;
  • Files and organizes paperwork;
  • Requests records from various sources for use by grant staff;
  • Participate in all required compliance and accounting training
  • Performs associated scheduling, presentation, and data entry functions
  • Generates reports as directed
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

In addition to the ability to perform all job duties, the Grant Manager must have:
    • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders in the development and implementation of service delivery programs and to work collaboratively as part of a team;
    • Proficiency with computer applications related to the work;
    • Familiarity with and ability to use techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone, often where relations may be confrontational or strained;
    • Knowledge of principles and techniques of making effective oral presentations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, public administration or related field, and two (2) years’ experience in grant coordination and/or acquisition and related responsibilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  2. Be available to work in-person 100% of the scheduled work week.
  3. Be able to walk for short distances and climb stairs.
  4. Ability to intermittently twist to reach equipment and supplies.
  5. Be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
  6. Perform simple grasping and fine manipulation.
  7. Be able to use a telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
