Key Responsibilities
Supervise students while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus to ensure safety and order.
Assist the bus driver in managing student behavior and enforcing school district policies.
Support students with disabilities, including helping with mobility devices and ensuring secure seating.
Maintain seating charts and monitor assigned seating arrangements.
Respond to emergencies calmly and effectively, including administering basic first aid if trained.
Communicate with school staff and parents regarding student behavior or incidents on the bus.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (some districts may not require this).
Experience working with children is preferred, especially in educational or caregiving settings.
Ability to pass background checks and meet district safety standards.
Physical ability to assist students with mobility challenges and manage emergency situations.
Skills and Traits
Patience and empathy, especially when working with young children or those with special needs.
Strong communication skills to interact with students, parents, and school staff.
Situational awareness to identify and address potential safety issues.
Conflict resolution and behavior management techniques.
Dependability and punctuality, given the importance of consistent transportation schedules.
