Summary:

The Senior Accountant within Commercial Finance is critical to current and future success of the Company. This team member will be a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders while supporting accurate/timely billings and strategic analysis to report out to leadership teams. This team member will have an immediate impact within a high-growth potential organization.

Essential Job Functions:

• Manage the accounting and reconciliation of trade spend programs, including promotional allowances, rebates, market development funds, and customer deductions.
• Analyze trade spend trends, variances, and ROI to support financial planning and strategic decision-making.
• Monitor and resolve discrepancies with customer deductions and promotional claims.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries related to trade spend.
• Partner with Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, and AR teams to validate trade spend and co-manufacturing accruals and ensure proper documentation.
• Own portions of the monthly close process, including financial reporting and variance analysis.
• Maintain and update balance sheet reconciliations, resolving reconciling items in a timely manner.
• Complete co-manufacturing-related journal entries, including accruals and billing adjustments.
• Assist in monthly and annual financial flux analysis, budget, and forecasts.
• Communicate with co-manufacturing customers regarding billings, providing support and reconciliations as needed.
• Support internal and external audit requests with accurate documentation and analysis.
• Assist in developing and implementing process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Create and maintain SOPs for trade spend and co-manufacturing accounting processes.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
• Identify opportunities for automation and improved reporting.
• Take a proactive approach to analyzing financial data and customer issues, offering insights and recommendations to management.

Required Skills:

• Organized and detail oriented.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel. Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and eager to learn other software applications.
• Strong cross functional collaboration.

• Strong customer service orientation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the consumer-packaged goods (CPG), manufacturing, or beverage industry.
• Strong understanding of trade spend accounting, customer deductions, and revenue recognition principles preferred.
• SAP/BI experience for reporting preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP.
