American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU position in a secure corrections unit with Epic charting experience and an active OH or compact license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Provide care in a secure, locked corrections environment with access controlled by Corrections Officers
  • Nurse to patient ratios are 1:3 in PCU and 1:4-5 in MS units
  • Patient population includes oncology cases, oncology workups, history of cancer, and non-oncology diagnoses
  • Utilizes Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
  • Shifts are 3x12 hours, rotating between days and nights based on unit needs
  • Weekend shift assignments vary by unit requirements
  • Daily duties include cardiac monitoring, IV insulin protocols, central and peripheral line management, blood product administration, and management of respiratory support devices
  • Team support includes Pharmacy, PT, Radiology, Rapid Response Teams, Respiratory Services, Social Services, and Transportation
  • Oncology experience is preferred but not required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Must submit all time off requests during initial consideration
  • Locals are accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
  • Candidates must be aware of the urgency of completing the Ohio fingerprinting process promptly

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Medical-Surgical or Telemetry experience with competencies in dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, blood product administration, and respiratory support
  • At least two professional references, including one from a manager, director, or supervisor
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly
  • Former employees eligible after 6 months away; current employees of Ohio State University hospitals ineligible
