American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PCU/Medical-Surgical role in a secure corrections unit with required EPIC charting experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and float to various Oncology Medical-Surgical units as needed
  • Secure corrections health unit environment with access controlled by Corrections Officers
  • Night shifts, 3x12 hour schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for Medical-Surgical
  • Care for patients with oncology and non-oncology diagnoses, including active cancer treatments and various acute medical conditions
  • Utilizes the EPIC documentation system and Pyxis medication system
  • Weekend shifts required and vary based on unit needs
  • Provide nursing care to adult inmates with a range of oncology and medical-surgical needs
  • Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, IV therapy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
  • Perform respiratory management including CPAP/BIPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
  • Support available from pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory services, and rapid response teams
  • Must ensure staff safety and comply with all security protocols of a locked unit
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
  • At least two professional references, with one from a manager, director, or supervisor
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
