Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this engaged, hands-on executive will direct all financial reporting, accounting, and analytical functions, maintaining strong internal controls, accurate data, and proactive financial planning. The ideal candidate will pair strong leadership with construction accounting expertise to advance process improvements across diverse operational departments.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Direct all accounting activities—including general ledger management, job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and the month-end close—while ensuring adherence to U.S. GAAP and internal control requirements.
Guide the budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes across all divisions and departments.
Develop, update, and enforce internal procedures and associated controls.
Collaborate with the CFO and external partners to manage external audits and bank compliance requirements.
Manage tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions—covering income, sales and use, property, and payroll taxes—working with outside advisors when appropriate.
Work closely with operations and project management to evaluate job-level profitability, backlog, and key cost drivers.
Lead, coach, and grow the accounting team, fostering a culture of consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Provide the CFO and executive team with financial insights to support strategic initiatives (e.g., M&A, joint ventures, capital investments in plants/equipment, etc.).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
10–15+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting.
Big Four public accounting background and/or experience in the construction industry preferred.
Strong expertise in U.S. GAAP, job costing, WIP reporting, and consolidated financial statements, with proficiency in ERP platforms (such as Viewpoint Vista) and advanced Excel/BI tools.
Proven track record of leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Solid understanding of accounting and financial control practices for manufacturing environments and inventory management.
