EDI Engineer

Reports To: IT Manager

Primary Function:

This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) solutions and data exchange processes that support both internal business operations and external partner integration. The EDI Engineer ensures accurate data mapping, system configuration, partner onboarding, and technical troubleshooting. The role also provides technical support for daily EDI operations and collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize and maintain reliable electronic communication.

This role follows a fully flexible hybrid work model, allowing the employee to freely choose whether to work remotely or on-site. On-site attendance will be scheduled as needed to meet business demands.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain EDI interfaces and transaction sets (e.g., 850, 855, 856, 810) based on customer and partner requirements.
• Configure EDI systems and maintain maps for various communication protocols (e.g., AS2, SFTP, VAN).
• Troubleshoot and resolve EDI transmission errors, mapping issues, and partner integration problems.
• Coordinate onboarding of new EDI trading partners, including connectivity, specification gathering, testing, and deployment.
• Monitor EDI processes and ensure timely and accurate data exchange between internal systems and external parties.
• Collaborate with IT, supply chain, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure end-to-end data accuracy and process continuity.
• Generate reports and analyze EDI transaction data to identify gaps, delays, or issues.
• Work closely with ERP administrators to ensure integration alignment and transaction consistency.
• Maintain documentation for all EDI processes, mappings, and configurations.
• Stay current with EDI standards, tools, and best practices to support ongoing improvements.
• Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Required Experience

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience with EDI systems, mapping tools, and data communication protocols in a business or supply chain environment.
