The Theatre Technician is responsible for operating, overseeing, and maintaining all audio-visual, lighting, rigging, and shop equipment in the center’s theatre, music studio, dance studio, maker space, and other technical spaces. They will work closely with the Director of Technical Services and other teams within the Lili ʻ uokalani Center (LC) and Lili ʻ uokalani Trust (LT) to ensure high-quality productions and the proper maintenance of these spaces. Operate, maintain, and safeguard technical assets, including lighting, sound, video, shop tools, and visual display systems. Maintain inventory and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment. Provide training and support on technical operations for teammates and youth as appropriate. Prepare documents and reports related to maintenance, budgets, daily activities, and program content. Create scenic, lighting, audio, and video designs for internal productions. Recommend capital purchases of technical equipment to the Director, Technical Services. Other duties include: Participating in program planning, budget development, and evaluation. Providing transportation for organization-related business. Engaging in professional development opportunities. Contributing to the organization’s success by accepting new assignments and helping team members. Leading projects as assigned. Delivering programs or services as needed. Working flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and traveling as required. Qualifications BA in a related field preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent required. Knowledge of audio recording and reinforcement, video production, construction, lighting design, stage rigging, and production management. At least three years of experience working with youth. Valid driver’s license, clean traffic record, and TB clearance. Ability to interact effectively with youth, community partners, and teams; uphold ethical standards; communicate clearly; respect cultural diversity; manage relationships; and work under pressure. Travel Requirements: Occasional travel across the island, inter-island, and out-of-state as needed. Understanding and appreciation of Queen Liliuokalani’s legacy and Hawaiian culture. Commitment to continuous learning, effective communication, critical thinking, innovation, relationship building, teamwork, and capacity building. Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to lift 35 lbs, and perform sitting, bending, standing, and working in high places. Terms and Conditions of Employment: Subject to LT’s policies and procedures.
