Job Description

Air Force Reserve Technician Position

The primary purpose of this position is to evaluate and manage the training and education program on behalf of the AFRC Group and its subordinate units. The duties include:

Duty 1: Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Group and subordinate unit training program to ensure combat readiness.

Duty 2: Serves as focal point for all Career Development Course (CDC) waivers, reenrollment requests and two-time CDC failures for the Group and subordinate units.

Duty 3: Administers Education, Training and Distance Learning Programs.

Duty 4: Responsible for overall management of On-the-Job Training (OJT) program for the Group and oversight of subordinate unit's OJT program.

Duty 5: Manages the development of education and training instructional products.

Duty 6: Plans, organizes, and coordinates operations of the Advance Distributed Learning, and multimedia education and training programs.

Duty 7: Monitors the overall accuracy and reliability of all data entered into and maintained in Personnel Data System (PDS).

Duty 8: Plans, organizes, leads and controls the Developmental Education Board and Reserve School Selection Board process for the Group's and subordinate unit's officers on an annual basis.

Requirements include:

  • Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join
  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations

  • Total salary varies depending on location of position
  • This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program

  • This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position
  • The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements standards
  • The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities
  • The incumbent may be required to fly in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance

Qualifications include:

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples include applying knowledge of military personnel policies, Reserve mission, training methods and programs, policies, procedures, rules, guidelines, publications, etc., to understand respective programs and converse with functional managers.

OR Education: Masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.

OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Knowledge of military personnel policies, Reserve mission, training methods and programs, and Air Force Testing Programs. Knowledge of automated systems, personal computers, and software. Ability to analyze data/products to determine adequacy of training programs. Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy. Knowledge of training goals and objectives to advise in the management and implementation of training goals for the unit personnel. Knowledge of Air Force Specialty Code skill-level qualifications, update, enhancement, and proficiency training requirements.
